It’s been a difficult year of relations between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and the rest of the Royal Family, with bombshell revelations continuing to bring the spotlight on The Firm.
But there have been signs that relations are warming between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and King Charles, which have grown speculation of a potential Harry and Meghan return to Sandringham for Christmas.
It is understood that Charles is eager to improve relations with his son and daughter-in-law, with his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet becoming a key driving factor in the King’s mindset.
With the King’s impending Christmas message, due on Christmas afternoon next week, there is every chance that Charles may mention the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in his speech in some capacity.
Express.co.uk has spoken to a royal expert to give their verdict on whether Harry and Meghan may appear in King Charles’s Christmas message.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams gave his verdict on the topics the King is set to include in his Christmas message – and doesn’t think Harry and Meghan will get a look in.
He said: “Harry and Meghan are unlikely to be mentioned. Omid Scobie’s Endgame, which was an attack on the monarchy and caused considerable controversy, certainly won’t be.”
Mr Fitzwilliams went on to add that the King’s Christmas message is certain to include a mention of his campaigning on environmental issues for decades, especially as he opened COP28 in Dubai.
“It does seem likely that, with the situation in Gaza causing such concern, that it will be mentioned. The coming year is an election year in Britain. The King’s message, above party politics, will symbolise the continuity which the monarchy provides and which is so important.”
Though the King seems likely to mention the big topics of this year, and upcoming events of the next coming year in his message, it seems the issues Harry and Meghan may not be touched on in the King’s speech.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had an interesting year when it comes to royal revelations, with Harry sharing personal details around his relationships with other senior royals in his tell-all book Spare.
Omid Scobie’s Endgame also added fuel to the fire, with bombshell claims made about other members of the Royal Family, including the mention of two royals who were allegedly embroiled in the race row over Prince Archie’s skin colour.
