Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are 'shunning' their royal roots with latest bombshell move

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Sussex.com website launch has seen the couple make full use of their coat-of-arms and royal Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.

It has now been reported that are using the surname Sussex for their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, rather than the traditional Mountbatten-Windsor family name for descendants of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

However, one royal expert has said the change of name shows an “internal conflict” for Harry and Meghan, as while it heralds a “fresh start” for their family, it goes against the couple’s claims they want Archie and Lilibet to understand their UK heritage.

She told OK! magazine: “It’s a further declaration of their independence, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But it still seems to me that there is an internal conflict going on.

“They want separation from the Royal Family and yet they want titles for themselves and their children.”

She added: “Harry has said he wants Archie and Lilibet to understand their British heritage, but he is shunning the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.

“And their new website is liberally sprayed with Meghan’s coat of arms. However, I think it’s a perfectly legitimate decision which they are fully entitled to make.”

When Harry and Meghan married in 2018 they were given their own coat-of-arms, which features a blue background to represent California’s Pacific Ocean coast and two golden sunshine rays for Meghan’s home state.

Yet whatever happens, the royals are in firm agreement that the Duke of Sussex will never again resume his royal duties, even with King Charles and Princess Kate off sick.

This comes after The Times claimed that Harry was happy to “step into [a] royal role while his father is unwell” but sources state that there is no way back for him in “any way, shape or form”.

In spite of his illness, the King is hoping to keep up with as much work as possible and reportedly does not plan to “offload a great number of duties on other family members”.
