Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz had a close shave at training ahead of the team’s upcoming match with Manchester United. A video that has gone viral on social media shows Muniz at Fulham’s Motspur Park training ground, where he takes an unfortunate tumble while trying to enter a building.
The Brazilian striker is seen falling awkwardly but manages to get up and walk away, seemingly unscathed. It looks like Muniz has escaped injury and the 23-year-old is eager to play when Fulham welcome United to Craven Cottage on Sunday.
This season, Muniz has mostly come off the bench for Marco Silva, with Raul Jimenez being the preferred starting forward.
Silva, however, has expressed his confidence in Muniz’s long-term prospects at the club, having recently quashed rumours of West Ham’s interest. “I don’t have doubts about it,” Silva affirmed to the press.
“He’s been here with me for four years. I pushed hard to have him here in that moment and he’s going to be for the future. He has much more years here and a bright future in front of him and he has all the conditions to be the number nine for this football club for many years.
Addressing whether there had been any approaches for Muniz, Silva was clear: “No not at all. We are not open to listen to anything about Rodrigo and it’s better if no one contacts us because it will be a quick and easy answer from us. There’s no chance at all to even start to talk to clubs.”
Looking ahead to the United match, Silva exuded confidence in his team’s prospects, with Fulham presently holding the tenth spot in the Premier League after suffering only one loss in their last ten outings. “We have been able to create more chances than the seasons before,” Silva noted.
“Performance wise, we are making the right steps and improving season by season. We mix well, starting from the back a little bit and more unpredictable in other moments.
“We have been scoring a very good number of goals and we have been consistent with the goals we are scoring in games. With the chances we’ve created, we should have scored much more. It’s a sign that the way we play creates chances and allows us to be dominant in moments.
“We want to be more consistent and solid as a team. The secret is the way we prepare, the way we build our attacks, the quality we have and the way the players trust the message from ourselves. After that, it’s up to them to express themselves on the pitch.”
