Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s brand has suffered a battering in 2023 with PR experts warning that the couple faces a make-or-break 2024.
The couple had a tough year in 2023, with the publication of Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare and Omid Scobie’s bombshell book Endgame straining their relationship with the Firm. In addition, their deal with Spotify mutually ended and the couple were mocked in comedies, including South Park.
Speaking about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s life in the US, Mark Borkowski, one of Britain’s most experienced crisis managers, said the couple’s Hollywood relaunch is “clearly not working”.
He explained to MailOnline in December: “Something is beginning to unwind at the heart of Meghan and Harry. I think 2024 is going to be seismic, either because they’re going to do something to recover and find a new positive tactic or it’s going to be the undoing of the brand.
“It can only go one or two ways. It can’t stay where it is at the moment. Because it’s clearly not working”.

He added that the couple’s brand could be “finished” in the next year due to their reputation.
Meghan and Harry have returned to the UK on a handful of occasions to reunite with the Royal Family since they chose to step down as senior royals and relocate to the US.
Mark Boardman, entertainment expert and founder of MarkMeets, said that the couple must look to rebuild bridges to have success away from the Firm.
He told Newsweek: “Looking ahead to 2024, one can anticipate a change in team working on better-thought-out projects that showcase a more relatable side to both Harry and Meghan, if they really want to make their lifestyle choice a permanent thing.”
He added: “The success of Prince Harry’s documentary Heart of Invictus serves as a model for what we might expect in the future.
“A return to social media, more openness, and reaching out to their close friends and families for the mess they have caused is what they both need to get right first if they are to make amends and win back public affection.”
