POLL: Is King Charles wrong to slim down the Royal Family?

Now three senior royals are out of commission, one royal expert has lashed out at King Charles’s decision to “slim down” the monarchy.

Counsellors of State step in to represent the crown if a monarch is unable to do so. These include Queen Camilla, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice, and as of 2022 Princess Anne and Prince Edward.

However, non-working royals – such as Prince Andrew, Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice are unlikely to be called upon so this just leaves Princess Anne and Prince Edward to step in.

With the King, Prince William and Princess Kate unable to carry out duties, expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “This proves that a slimmer monarchy could not function in the same way.”
