Pippa Middleton 'captivated everyone' in wedding outfit but other royal wore perfect dress

Pippa Middleton was the maid of honour at Princess Kate’s royal wedding in 2011 where she wore a very flattering white dress.

The elegant gown got almost as much attention as the then Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress. It was a floor-length, “tremendously figure-hugging Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen creation made of ivory satin crepe and delicate lace”.

It had a cowl neckline, capped sleeves, a cinched waist, and featured 58 buttons down the back.

Style expert and marketing manager at jewellerybox Daena Borrowman talked about why Pippa’s dress became the centre of attention that day.

She explained: “Pippa Middleton’s ivory white bridesmaid dress at Kate’s wedding was so iconic that the world is still talking about it.

“It captivated everyone that was watching the wedding. If the brief for Pippa’s dress was ‘classically elegant’, Pippa certainly looked every bit the part.”

The fashion guru continued: “Pippa’s dress caused a global stir, firstly, because it was white. This was rather untraditional, as the colour white is normally reserved for the bride on her big day.

“Secondly, because of how well it fitted her across her bottom. Royal watchers have commented that Pippa’s dress nearly upstaged the bride’s dress. But Pippa revealed that the plan with her white bridesmaid dress was to actually ‘blend in with’ Kate’s train.”

Another guest who almost stole the spotlight at a royal wedding was Lady Kitty Spencer, Princess Diana’s niece. Kitty was a vision at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

She wore a sophisticated green Dolce & Gabbana dress and a matching Philip Treacy hat. Princess Diana’s niece complemented with Bulgari jewellery, and royal fans absolutely loved the outfit.

It probably was one of the favourite guest outfits as Kitty revealed she woke up the day after Prince Harry’s wedding with over half a million new followers on social media.

During an interview with Town & Country magazine, she explained: “I woke up the next day and looked at my phone and thought, ‘Whoops, did I take someone else’s by mistake?’. it was a bit overwhelming.”

On social media, fans opined the dress was “perfect” and that Lady Kitty looked “stunning” that day. Instagram user @nadiaa5000 commented: “Now this is an actually true Princess. Her style, her appearance, her looks, her behaviour, her everything.”
