Peppa Pig’s baby sister has been revealed as the world-famous family welcome a new member who has one thing in common with Princess Kate and Prince William’s children. The animated show announced Mummy Pig was pregnant in February and ITV’s Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Arnold on Tuesday (May 20) shared the first photographs of newborn baby Evie.
Arnold said: “Daddy Pig has just shared these pictures with me of Peppa’s brand new baby sister Evie, named after Mummy Pig’s Aunt Evie, she was born at 5.34am this morning.” Evie Pig was reportedly welcomed into the world at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in central London.
It is the same place where Princess Kate gave birth to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The baby’s sex was revealed in April when the chimneys of Battersea Power Station were lit up in pink to show Mummy Pig was expecting another girl.
The show later announced an hour-long screening format, Peppa Meets The Baby, which is due to hit screens on May 30.
It will feature 10 new, song-filled episodes as Peppa and brother George prepare for the arrival of their little sister. Evie is expected to appear on screen in the series in the autumn.
In response to the happy news, a fan wrote on X: “Aw, she’s proper lovely! Welcome to the world, little Evie – hope she’s got her mum’s sense of humour and her dad’s cheek!” Another posted: “Aw love it. Welcome, Baby Pig.”
Peppa Pig has partnered with the National Children’s Trust as official Pregnancy and Parenting Charity Partner in the UK.
Meanwhile, a special set of stamps has been issued to mark the 20th anniversary of the popular children’s TV series, featuring Peppa and her pals.
The stamps include Peppa and George, Suzy Sheep, Danny Dog, Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, Grandpa and Granny Pig in the main set, as well as a miniature sheet showing the characters having fun at a party.
Co-created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker, from animation studio Astley Baker Davies, the series first aired in 2004 on Channel 5 Milkshake and Nick Junior.
It has since been broadcast in more than 40 languages and is available in over 180 territories. It was acquired by toy company Hasbro in 2019 as part of its purchase of Entertainment One’s brands.
