Peace lilies will be bigger and grow healthier flowers if 10-second job is done

Peace lilies are renowned for being low-maintenance houseplants and are typically straightforward to keep thriving provided you water them from time to time. Nevertheless, in summer, watering alone isn’t sufficient as they must be relocated away from windowsills if you wish to preserve their health.

It’s typical to position plants close to windows since they require light, but peace lilies are delicate and excessive sunlight can scorch their foliage, resulting in their blooms turning brown and withered. Rather, Craig Wilson, a horticultural expert and founder of Gardeners Dream has revealed peace lilies will thrive if you take a moment to relocate them somewhere more moisture-rich in your residence, reports the Express.

Craig explained: “Peace lilies need watering, but not nearly as much as you might expect. Normally, it is best to water your peace lily every few days, with the plant even being tolerant to being watered less often if it is kept somewhere humid in the house like the bathroom.”

Peace lilies are tropical blooms which flourish on jungle floors in their native environment, and they endure by drawing moisture from the warm humid atmosphere.

This explains why it’s far better to position a peace lily in a corner of your bathroom, or perhaps the kitchen, as the warm vapour helps maintain their hydration and vitality.

Peace lilies in jungles also receive dappled dim sunlight that is filtered through enormous trees which explains why it’s optimal to keep them reasonably close but not positioned directly against a window.

Craig explained: “It is best not to leave peace lilies by external doors or windows because the plants don’t do well in exposed conditions.”

Excessive sunlight or arid air can hinder a peace lily’s capacity to generate blooms, so spending a moment to relocate them to a spot that better mimics their native habitat will encourage flowering.

Nevertheless, if there isn’t space for a peace lily in your bathroom or kitchen then don’t fret as regularly used parts of the house also create a reasonable degree of moisture.

Individuals emit a modest quantity of water vapour when breathing, so you can equally position a peace lily in your bedroom or lounge to help them thrive.

Where possible, locate a section of your property that receives plenty of early sunlight, as peace lilies will appreciate the softer illumination rather than the more intense afternoon rays.

Spaces with east-facing windows typically get the most daylight during morning hours as the sun comes up so generally prove the ideal location for positioning a peace lily.

Should you take a brief moment to shift peace lilies to a more suitable position in your property, then you’re more likely to achieve additional blooms on your peace lily that will flower for considerably longer periods.
