Patio moss will disappear with 'powerful' 65p natural ingredient paving expert loves

Experts at Infinite Paving warned: “Patio moss is very unpredictable and will grow anywhere that there is an opportunity.

“It commonly grows in the spaces between paving stones and will spread throughout your whole paving if allowed.”

Moss “will never die out without actually being removed”, but there is a natural way to clean it off that is effective and non-toxic.

The “powerful substance” is said to be “phenomenal” at removing moss, and it costs as little as 65p.

As soon as you see moss, you need to take action; otherwise, the invasive plant can take root and spread further, making it a much harder job to remove later on.

“One very unconventional yet very effective way of getting rid of unwanted paving weeds is by using bicarbonate of soda,” said the experts.

“When eradicating moss from your garden, bicarbonate of soda, or baking soda, is a very powerful substance that will get rid of the moss in no time.”

How to get rid of moss

Apply a layer of baking soda to the affected area and leave overnight; you might need to repeat this process for a couple of days before you notice results.

The experts explained: “The baking soda is effective as it raises the pH, which the moss really does not like.”

Make sure to clean off the baking soda because, while it’s a natural ingredient, it’s still a chemical.

If you clean off the baking soda the following day you can rest assured that there will be no damage done to paving stones.

Another great natural solution to try is white vinegar to make moss “disappear”.

All you need to do is fill a spray bottle with equal parts vinegar and water to create the perfect moss-killing solution.

Vinegar can be left on the patio moss for only an hour or so before you need to scrub off the moss with a soft-bristled brush.

Both the diluted vinegar solution and soft-bristled brush are important factors to consider.

Should you go for fully concentrated vinegar and a hard-bristled brush, you could damage the surface of the paving slabs.

“These two little tips will ensure that you get rid of the unwanted moss while also avoiding any other damage,” the experts concluded.
