Passengers trapped in darkness on Elizabeth Line for two hours frantically 'bang on window

Several passengers have been trapped inside the Elizabeth line for two hours  due to damage to overhead wires. The disruption also affects the Elizabeth line, with services to stations between Paddington and Heathrow and Reading cancelled.

One of the passengers stuck inside the line told express.co.uk how they have been banging the windows to get attention of the police officers. Lucas L, who boarded the train at 6.39pm from Farringdon said: “There is a message being passed down the train that the police is here to rescue us but not sure how long it wil take. We can see police walking around. People are knocking on windows to get their attention.”

Trains running to and from the station may be cancelled or delayed by up to 80 minutes, National Rail said.

In a statement on its website, National Rail said the problems are down to “damage to the overhead electric wires between London Paddington and Acton Main Line”, meaning “all lines are blocked”.
