Our Yorkshire Farm fans issue desperate plea to Amanda Owen after Reuben decision

Amanda Owen has fans feeling nostalgic as she shared sweet snaps with her son Reuben Owen. The Yorkshire Shepherdess took to social media and claimed she was “so proud” of her eldest child following the release of his new Channel 5 show.

49-year-old Amanda and Reuben, 20, previously starred alongside each other on the escapist reality series, Our Yorkshire Farm. However, the broadcaster pulled the plug in 2022 after five seasons on air.

Despite the show’s cancellation, Channel 5 has remained committed to the Owen family. In 2022, they brought Reuben and his father Clive Owen, 68, back together for the docuseries Beyond the Yorkshire Farm.

Last month, the young farmer stepped up to front his own spin-off, entitled Reuben: Life in the Dales. The six-part programme follows the hardworking youngster as he makes a go of his own business.

Days after the first episode aired, Amanda took to Instagram to gush about her son. On April 28, the star posted two selfies to her 534,000 followers and wrote: “So proud of big lad @reubenowen74. He’s a star.”

The farmer was wearing an orange hi-vis work hoodie and posed with his thumb up while his mother opted for a beige crew neck jumper.

Following the post, fans came out in their droves to claim they needed Amanda and the rest of the Owen back on their TV screens as soon as possible.

One Instagram user wrote: “Amanda- get back on screen with him. He needs you.”

Another said: “Wish Amanda and her husband had not split up and could have continued to watch the Yorkshire farm and see how the family have all grown up. Reuben a credit to them all.”

“Brilliant show! Hope we see Clive helping a hand,” typed a third. “That would be the icing on the cake. The three youngsters are so good together so hope they stay together! Many more adventures the three could have.”

A fourth fan commented: “He really is – miss Yorkshire Farm so much. Hope all the family are well.”

“Miss you on my telly,” said another. “Also very proud of Ruben, feel like I’ve watched him grow up into a fabulous human like his mum.”

Following Our Yorkshire Farm’s axing, Daniel Pearl, Commissioning Editor for Factual at Channel 5 said: “The Owens have become everyone’s favourite farming family and millions have enjoyed watching their unique way of life.

“It’s fantastic that we can now all follow Reuben and Clive on their next adventure.

“We remain absolutely committed to the whole wonderful Owen family and hope to announce new projects with Amanda very soon.”

Amanda and Clive met in 1995 when the former was 21 and her ex-husband was 42.

Despite their 21-year age gap, the pair tied the knot in 2000 and went on to welcome nine children into the world before eventually splitting in 2022.

Tune into Reuben: Life in the Dales on Thursdays at 8pm on Channel 5.
