Oscar Piastri failed to mention winning team-mate Lando Norris in a bitter interview after receiving a 10-second penalty during the British Grand Prix. Nico Hulkenberg’s first-ever podium finish was the race ‘highlight’, according to Piastri, despite his McLaren colleague winning his home race for the first time.
Piastri said: “I’m not going to say much, I’ll get myself in trouble. Well done to Nico, I think that’s the highlight of the day. I’ll leave it there.”
Pressed further by interviewer Jenson Button on the penalty that cost him his victory, the Australian added: “Apparently you can’t brake behind the safety car anymore. I did it for five laps before that. I’m not going to say too much because I’ll get myself in trouble. Thanks to the crowd for a great event, thanks for sticking through the weather. I still like Silverstone, even if I don’t like it today.”
