Sky Sports forced to apologise for Lando Norris gaffe after dream British GP win | F1 | Sport

Jenson Button and David Croft were both forced to issue apologies to Sky Sports F1 viewers after Lando Norris swore during his post-race interview at the British Grand Prix. The Brit delivered on home soil, securing a fairytale win at the legendary Silverstone circuit. The Brit was ecstatic after climbing out of the cockpit. He avenged the heartbreak of 2024 by capitalising on Oscar Piastri’s 10-second time penalty to win on home soil.

The McLaren duo were followed across the line by Nico Hulkenberg, who scored his first-ever F1 podium at the 239th attempt. “It’s beautiful,” Norris told Button after the chequered flag. “Everything I dreamed of, I guess. Everything I’ve ever wanted to achieve. Apart from a championship, I think this is as good as it gets in terms of feelings and in terms of achievement, being proud, all of it.

“This is where it all started for me, and now thankfully I’ve been able to have my go. Incredible race, stressful as always, but the support from the fans made the difference today, so I’ve got to thank them for it all. Your mind just goes pretty blank. Everything you might think before the race, you forget.

“The main thing is just don’t f*** it up, that’s rule number one. The last few laps, I was just looking into the crowd. I was just trying to take it all in, enjoy the moment, because it might never happen again. I hope it does. But these are memories that I’ll bring with me forever. An incredible achievement.”

The foul language prompted an apology from Button, which was backed up by Norris himself, before lead commentator Croft apologised to viewers when the coverage panned back to Sky Sports F1.

While Norris was full of positive emotions after scoring his first home win, his team-mate was livid. Piastri’s emotions were high after a 10-second time penalty for braking hard under safety car conditions stripped him of the lead and ultimately the race victory.
