If you’re looking to go on a beach holiday, this UK airport might be the perfect destination as you’ll land directly onto the beach without having to walk through security and bagage claim first.

If you are longing to get to the beach, maybe this Scottish airport is the perfect holiday destination for you. Located in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, the Isle of Barra is unique as it’s got the only airport in the world where flights are scheduled to land and take off from a beach.

The planes in question have to be scheduled around the hide tide which happens twice a day, leading to the three runways, which are marked by wooden poles, are surmerged under the sea.

The airport only has one domestic flight destination happens twice a day – a one hour and 10 minute flight to Glasgow. Flights operated by Logan Air operate daily.

Caroline McQuistin is one of the recent passengers that has travelled the unique root, and took to social media to shared her experience.

In the video, which has been viewed over 191,600 times in a day, Caroline is seen excitedly looking out her window on the plane, putting her hand over her mouth to show her amazement at her view.

“This is your sign to take a flight to the only airport in the world where the plan lands on a beach!” she wrote on the video.

She then turned the camera to the window to show people what she saw. Outside, as the plane was decending to prepare to land, several islands are seen scattered around the bright bluish-green water, making it look like it belongs in the Bahamas.

The video then cut to show the view from the cockpit, as the door was open, showing the front view as the two pilots were getting ready to land on the sandy beach.

“The world’s only scheduled commercial flight where the runway is a beach!! And it’s just casually covered by the tide twice a day! What an experience!!” she added in the caption of the video.

She then shows the small passenger plan fly off into the sky again as it’s on its way to return to Glasgow Airport.

Taking to the comments, people shared their amazement of Caroline’s flight experience, with many sharing their jealousy of wanting to experience it themselves.

“Are you kidding? That’s so magical,” one viewer wrote, as a second person said: “I need to go to Barra this summer, love it.”

A third person wrote: “I’ve heard people bring chairs out to watch the planes come in, we’re so blessed in Scotland with our incredible islands.”

“Scotland is just the best place on earth,” a fourth person wrote, as another person said: ” Incredible! We went to Barra last week and watched the planes but dying to do the flight one day.”
