‘Nobody will know it isn’t £100,000’ – expert offers cheap used cars that look expensive

In the video, Matt states motorists can pick up a good example of a 15-year-old Mercedes Benz S-Class for less than the cost of the cheapest new full-size car.

One of the main reasons why the YouTuber liked the longstanding luxury model over its rivals is due to the amount of technology it includes, with the Mercedes often having features not seen on other cars for years.

However, he warned that drivers interested in buying a used S-Class should look for examples that have been kept well and have a full-service history to avoid expensive repair bills.

For used car buyers that prefer to live a sporting life on a budget, Matt highlighted that drivers do not need to pay hundreds of thousands for a good Maserati.

He continued: “We’re heading to Italy for this one, with Maserati. Well, you’re probably wondering ‘Which Maserati Matt? There are lots of different models?’. Well, all of them. Every single one. They’re all quite cheap to buy and they’ll make you look richer than you actually are.

“If you want something sporty then there’s the Gran Turismo. Prices for those start at just £16,000 which I think is just insane. You get an awesome sounding 4.2 litre V8, good looks, a nice interior, and again, nobody will know that this isn’t a £100,000 car.”

Finally, for a practical family SUV, Matt noted that used car buyers can hardly ignore the Range Rover, stating there are models to suit all budgets.

He added: “I just don’t know how you cannot like a Range Rover. They were the first luxury 4×4, they’ve been around since 1970 and have been popular with anyone who’s anyone ever since. Royalty, celebrities, captains of industry, successful people the world over.

“I think if you buy a blingy one with loads of chrome and heavy window tints then it totally spoils the look. It needs to be subtle and tasteful for you to pull off the gentrified classic look.”
