Nigel Slater left fans in hysterics as he took to Instagram to share the recipe for a sweet tart that looked somewhat erotic, according to some.
The 67-year-old food writer provided directions for a custard and poached quince tart, accompanied by an image of the alluring pink pastry.
While Nigel evidently invested considerable effort in perfecting the recipe, the same might not be said for his approach to photography.
It’s unclear whether he overlooked the visual innuendo or intentionally embraced a provocative angle, but the image soon caused his comments section to flood with jokes and puns.
According to some social media users, the soft folds of pink stewed fruit looked like a vulva.

Nigel, who has not addressed the apparent blunder, shared his tips for the seasonal recipe in the caption.
He wrote: “Quince Custard Tarts. Puff pastry filled with custard and poached quince.
“Not something to hurry, but a pleasurable way to spend a quiet afternoon in the kitchen and worth every minute of your time.
“The quinces need to be cooked until completely soft then left to cool in their syrup which is then boiled down for the glaze.”
The food expert noted: “You could make them with apples should quinces prove evasive.”
