The ONS has predicted Britain’s population is on course to hit nearly 74 million by 2036, up by a whopping seven million today.
The forecast is almost entirely down to huge levels of immigration expected to take place, with over six million more migrants forecast to settle in Britain over the period.
Despite both the Tories and Labour promising to crack down on immigration, the ONS expected long-term net migration of 315,000 a year from mid-2028 onwards.
Responding to the new predictions, Nigel Farage told the Express: “The population crisis is rapidly getting worse and damaging the quality of life for everyone”.
“Uncontrolled immigration is happening despite the Brexit vote. Our political leaders deserve to be punished at the ballot box.”
