The show’s viewing figures may be flying at the moment, but the ratings are not quite as impressive. The Rotten Tomatoes critics have opted for a solid 79% score, with the audience rating it higher at 79%. The critics consensus reads: “Wrangled by Eric Bana’s steady star power, Untamed’s solid murder mystery is elevated by the visually sumptuous backdrop of its Yosemite National Park milieu.”
A top critic said: “Deeply layered and gripping, Untamed is a brilliant detective tale anchored by some of our worst human impulses. It is a story of pain, shame and the hope of redemption, even when there appears to be no way out.”
Another added: “It’s a smart and compelling drama, with some great acting and a real sense of place.”
One audience reviewer gave the show a glowing recommendation, they said: “This is a series done right. Brilliant storytelling that’s properly paced over all six episodes, which means we don’t get stupid plot tricks to stop the reveal until the last ten minutes of the last episode. The acting is first rate, the characters are rich and complex and the cinematography is just beautiful. This is something I’d happily watch again.”
The Untamed is available to stream on Netflix right now.
