Nestle to axe two iconic chocolate biscuit bars including the Yorkie

Chocolate giant Nestle has announced it will stop making some of its biscuits ahead of the arrival of a new product.

It comes after its famous Caramac and Animal Bars were axed just months ago due to “low demand”.

Now, two more childhood favourites are set to join the list of discontinued treats for the very same reason.

Britons will see the last few Yorkie Biscuit Bars and Breakaway biscuits on shop shelves between February and March before they start to disappear.

But Yorkie fans have been urged not to confuse the biscuit bars with the chunkier chocolate bars, which according to Nestle are “staying for good”.

A spokesperson for Nestle UK & Ireland said: “We know fans will be disappointed to see it go, but it’s time for us to say goodbye to Breakaway.

“We have seen a decline in the sales of Breakaway over the past few years and unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue it.

“By saying goodbye to Breakaway, we can focus on our best-performing brands, as well as develop exciting innovations to delight consumers’ tastebuds.”

One of the new Nestle arrivals is an updated version of the classic Blue Riband bar, which has been given a new hazelnut flavour.

The new wafer-biscuit bar claims to boast the same layers of wafer in milk chocolate but will come with an added smooth hazelnut filling.

As reported by The Mirror, Nestlé said it wants to make room for new products and has already announced a new Blue Riband Hazelnut bar. The new bar is said to boast the same layers of wafer in milk chocolate but will come with an added smooth hazelnut filling.

Just months ago in November, the confectionary company left fans of its Animal Bar in the lurch by discontinuing it for good.

The Animal bar was launched in 1963 as a real milk chocolate bar, with a fun game on the inside of each wrapper and two different named animals moulded on the surface of every single one.

It’s not all bad news for Nesle fans though. The chocolate giant has been known to bring back old-favourites, including the previously axed Wispa bar which regained its place back on British supermarket shelves.
