His eldest sister, Julie, 28, is married to Tanner and they share two children together, one six-year-old and a five-month-old baby.
Dan’s lifelong best friend since childhood, Kyle, 26, is engaged to Julie’s friend Cathy, 28, and their wedding date is set in November.
All growing up in a small town, everybody knows each other and are very much in each other’s lives, as Dan explained on Reddit.
“Cathy and Julie went to high school together and have been close friends for years,” Dan elaborated. “And Kyle and I both work at a gym that Tanner owns.”
Happily going about their everyday lives, with Dan working with his best friend, Kyle, at Tanner’s gym.
Tanner being Dan’s brother-in-law (and boss) as he’s married to Julie, and his sister Julie being good friends with Cathy, who is Dan’s best friend’s fiancée.
“We all live in a town with less than 2,000 people,” said Dan, so when something fishy occurs, rumours spread like wildfire.
Julie and Kyle were caught making out, which Tanner caught wind of and started yelling at Dan for asking him if he already knew.
“I was in shock and told him no,” said Dan, but when his brother-in-law confronted Julie, she confessed to the affair.
“She admitted to having an affair with Kyle, my best friend, for months,” said Dan.
Tanner rang Cathy and revealed what had been happening behind their back with their partners.
“Cathy immediately called off the wedding and kicked Kyle out of the house,” said Dan.
“Tanner also asked Julie to leave the house so he could think over how to go about separating while also keeping the children in mind.”
Dan was asked by his sister Julie to help her move into her new place in the next nearby town.
Obliging, when he pulled up to the new apartment, he saw his best friend, Kyle, already there.
“Kyle was moving in with her,” said Dan, but Tanner and Cathy found out and are now fuming with Dan.
“Kyle is my best friend and Julie is my sister,” said Dan. “I know what they did was wrong but… they are both family to me.”
