Mumble beach in Wales cordoned off by police as 'bomb squad' rush to the scene


The bomb squad has rushed to a beach near a seaside village in Wales after an “explosive device” was found inside a cave. Emergency services rushed to the scene in Mumbles shortly before 2pm on Monday afternoon.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “We were called just before 1.50pm this afternoon with a report of an explosive device in a cave near the coastal path at Mumbles.

“Officers are in attendance and have established a cordon following Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal (JSEOD) advice. The lighthouse and its surrounding area have been cleared. A JSEOD team is to attend to carry out a controlled explosion of the device.”
