A maniac with a thinning mullet allegedly tried to murder several people inside a North Carolina home before fleeing from police on a lawnmower, authorities said.
Woodrow Allen Smith, 62, allegedly fired his shotgun at a woman and two kids inside a residence in Sanford when police were called and Smith took off on the lawnmower at a breakneck speed of 5-8 mph, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and The Charlotte Observer.

Smith also choked-out one of the children with his bare hands and threatened to use the gun to kill them, the outlet reported.
His relationship to the woman and children wasn’t immediately known.
“The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a… domestic disturbance in which an individual was reportedly firing a shotgun at people inside a residence,” the sheriff’s office said, according to the outlet.
“The suspect, Woodrow Allen Smith, fled the scene on a riding lawnmower while carrying the firearm and was last seen heading east toward a nearby storage building,” the sheriff added.

Deputies later found the getaway-mower abandoned in that same area and initiated a search for him, officials said.
Police eventually found Allen and he was captured, brought into custody, and slapped with a laundry list of charges — four felonies and a misdemeanor.
Those charges include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into occupied property, possession of a firearm by a felon, and simple assault, according to police.
Smith is now being held in the Lee County Jail without bond.
