Mrs Hinch's fans rave about cheap product to remove algae from fences

Wooden fences add a rustic vibe to many British homes, but without proper maintenance, they can become magnets for dirt and green algae, which give them a less-than-desirable appearance.

Luckily, Mrs Hinch’s fans found an easy solution to rid your fence of unsightly algae growth using an affordable product.

The cleaning influencer and mum-of-two skyrocketed to fame a few years back with her clever home hacks, and since then, fans have created social media pages to exchange tips and seek advice from fellow enthusiasts.

In the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips on Facebook, several members have been inquiring about the best methods to efficiently remove green algae from their fences, just in time for spring.

One of them, Ian Bradshaw, asked fellow members of the group: ”Anyone have any tips for cleaning painted fence?

”Has now got green algae on it. Don’t want to jet wash it as don’t want to repaint it!”

”White vinegar spray. It took all ours off in no time,” someone soon chimed in.

Some enthusiasts in the group were singing praises for Wet & Forget, a product readily available at Wickes.

The 2-liter container is priced at £18, but with dilution, each use should cost around £4.50.

”It effectively removes contaminants with no water washing or scrubbing required, simply apply to the surface and forget about it. Let Wet & Forget do the hard work for you,” reads the products’ description online.

”Our formula has an unlimited shelf life and is completely free from aggressive chemicals such as bleach and ammonia that can damage surfaces.”

This product isn’t just effective against algae; it’s like magic for eliminating mould and mildew as well.

Its non-bleach formula makes it ideal for cleaning a variety of outdoor surfaces, including roofs, bricks, natural stone pavers, headstones, patios, driveways, paintwork, glasshouses, solar panels, tarmac, artificial grass, and more.
