Motorists can find any vehicle in car park by pressing little-known button

“This button, usually marked clearly, triggers the car’s alarm when pressed. It can help you locate your car in a crowded car park or alert others to a potential danger nearby.

“Knowing how to use this can add an extra layer of safety and convenience.”

However, tools often backfire and a car alarm that is randomly going off without even being pressed could be a sign of a major key fob problem.

Breakdown experts at the RAC admitted an unpredictable car alarm could be caused by a problem with the key fob battery.

These can be picked up at many high street stores and are inexpensive to fix with the new battery usually costing just a few pounds.

The RAC explained: “You may also be suffering from key fob issues. If your car uses a remote key fob to activate the alarm, it’s possible that the fob’s battery is low or that the fob itself is malfunctioning. Replace the battery and see if that resolves it.

“Sometimes, interference from other electronic devices such as smartphones or other key fobs can cause your car alarm to go off.”

It is a legal requirement to have a car horn fitted and be in full working order at all times as it is a key safety feature.

Horns should be used to warn others of danger and to help avoid potential accidents or collisions.

Halfords commented: “Little do many motorists know, but it’s a legal requirement to have a fully-working car horn, and a faulty or nonexistent horn will result in a failed MOT. If the horn is not working in your car, Halfords has a great range of car horns for sale.”
