Most expensive areas to buy a property in the UK named – homes average £3.5m in top spot


The UK’s leading estate agent comparison site GetAgent has shared the UK’s priciest postcodes to buy a property.

By analysing their own internal listings data as part of their 2024 Sellers Report the experts the biggest trends for house sellers in 2024.

Most expensive places to live in the UK

1. Virginia Water, Wentworth, Runnymede

The most expensive postcode in the UK is located in Runnymede, Surrey where the average selling price is £3,524,879.

The price has increased from £3.27 million in 2022. The area is particularly popular with commuters taking just 90 minutes by train to get to central London.

The GU25 postcode is also surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Surrey Hills.

2. Isle Of Islay, Argyllshire

Coming in second place is the Isle Of Islay in Argyllshire where the average home sells for £3million.

The Isle Of Islay is the southernmost of the Inner Hebrides islands off the west coast of Scotland. The area is known for its whisky with distilleries producing single malts.

The area is spectacular with rolling hills, a rugged coastline and pretty homes.

3. Beaulieu, New Forest

Beaulieu in Hampshire is the third most expensive postcode to buy a house in the UK with the average selling price being £2,878,342.

The village is located on the edge of the New Forest and was once named the fifth most beautiful village in the UK and Ireland by Condé Nast Traveler.

4. Bourne End, South Buckinghamshire

The SL8 postcode in South Buckinghamshire is the fourth most expensive place to live in the UK with homes fetching £2,773,642.

The village is located five miles away from High Wycombe and three miles east of Marlow.

The village is famous for its bustling high street and being the former home of Children’s author Enid Blyton.

5. Bryher, Isles of Scilly

Bryher, which is one of the smallest inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly is the fifth most expensive area to live in the UK with homes selling for an average of £2.5million.

The island has a population of just 84 and is known for its pretty sandy beaches, coves and bays.
