Monk mum-of-three who died for 40 minutes before doctors revived her reveals what she saw

A mum-of-three whose heart stopped beating for 40 minutes has shared what she saw as doctors desperately tried to save her.

Kirsty Bortoft was found “lifeless” on her sofa on the night she was expected to be with her husband-to-be Stu. The former monk recalls her father offering to cook a pizza for her boys so that the couple could have some alone time on the evening of January 29, 2021.

However, her fiancé found Kirsty, 49, laying unresponsive on the sofa but with her eyes open. Stu tried in vain to save her, but was unable to bring her back to life. He later said that she had “strange” hexagonal patterns all over her skin.

A first responder used a defibrillator on the mum, but medics warned that she only had a six per cent chance of survival.

The Scarborough mum was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a cardiac arrest and her relatives were told to “expect the worst”.

However, while unconscious, Kristy revealed something “magical” happened prior to being “brought back” to life, reports The Sun.

She explained: “No one at this point knew what was going on apart from my immediate family, but my psychic friend got in touch with my sister and asked what was going on.

“She said my spirit was in her front room and I was asking her to write lists for my boys and dad.

“My sister told her I was in the hospital fighting for my life and apparently, I was there for over two hours. I told [my friend] that my body was breaking down and I didn’t think I could back get into it, but she got stern with me and told me to go back. Meanwhile, in the hospital, my family were being told to prepare themselves for the end.”

She continued: “I recall upon finally coming back in to my body, that I knew exactly what I needed to do to heal, like a download of information. I realised you don’t die, only your body moves on and that my mission here wasn’t over yet. Without the dark, you don’t know what light is and I believe we’re here to wake up, grow and refine our vibrations.”

The meditating mum believes practicing mindfullness sped up her recovery and doctors were “in shock” as the “scarring and water had practically gone” after just 10 days. She’s previously taken her children to live in the Spanish mountains in 2011 and four years later became a monk.

Responding to the ordeal, Stu contacted a slate of meditation groups and friends of Kirsty’s and “started off a wave of healing work” with people across the world “plugging in to pray and meditate”, which she believes helped her return to her body while she was in A&E.
