Moment Prince William found out about Prince Harry and Meghan's first pregnancy revealed

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were undoubtedly excited to share the news that they were expecting their first child together with the Duke’s family – especially his brother, Prince William.

The couple are known to have shared the news at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding in October 2018, where they “pulled William aside”.

Sharing in his memoir Spare, which was released in January 2023, Harry wrote: “…Also, the various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news.

“After the drinks reception, in St George’s Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside.”

He continued: “We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said we must tell Kate.

“She was across the room, talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I’d hoped.”

Harry also shared that his father King Charles III had a similar reaction and appeared “delighted” at the prospect at welcoming a fourth grandchild. He also added that his father’s smile “warmed” him.

Their son Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born in London on May 6, 2019.

The couple have, since stepping down as senior royals and moving to the US, also welcomed a second child – a daughter. Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on June 4, 2021.
