Mohamed Salah has shared a mysterious message regarding his future at Liverpool, stating: “No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.”
In a social media post on Sunday, the Reds’ star expressed the team’s ambition to make a serious bid for the Premier League title.
Salah scored a remarkable second goal on Saturday afternoon, helping the Reds recover from a one-goal deficit to defeat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 at Anfield. This victory put them two points ahead of Manchester City, who suffered a defeat to Bournemouth.
The same day also saw Arsenal lose 1-0 to Newcastle United.
This goal moved Salah past Robbie Fowler into eighth place in the Premier League’s all-time top scorers list with 165 goals. However, with just over six months remaining on his current contract with the Reds, it remains uncertain how much further he can climb this ranking.
In less than two months, the No. 11 can start discussions with clubs outside England about a pre-contract agreement.
In an Instagram post, Salah emphasised the significance of being at the top of the table, even at this relatively early stage of the season.
“Top of the table is where this club belongs.” Salah wrote. “Nothing less. All teams win matches but there’s only 1 champion in the end. That’s what we want. Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.”
Salah will hope to kick on and add to his Liverpool tally on Tuesday evening when the Reds face Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
