Minors arrested after video shows crowd attack 3 US Marines at California pier, police say

Southern California authorities on Tuesday arrested five juveniles on felony assault charges after a group of minors ambushed three United States Marines over Memorial Day weekend.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported the attack, which was caught on cellphone video, took place Friday night near the San Clemente Pier, roughly 65 miles south of Los Angeles.

Authorities arrested four boys and one girl on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon (non-firearm), according to a statement issued by the department on Wednesday. The teens were among a crowd of dozens at the scene of the attack, videos show.

The teens were then booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall. Authorities said they are not releasing the suspects’ names because they are minors.
