Mike Tindall tipped for frontline role as he and Zara meet key criteria in Royal Family

Mike Tindall has been tipped for a working role in the royal family along with his wife Zara as King Charles and Kate Middleton recover from surgery.

The royal family is currently short on those able to carry out duties such as official visits after the King underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate and Kate had abdominal surgery.

The shortage was added to when Prince Edward announced he was taking a short break from royal duties.

But now one royal commentator has tipped Mike and Zara to step into the breach claiming they “fit in beautifully with the royal family”.

While speaking on GB News, Angela Levin added that the staffing crisis was causing problems with the King’s plans for a slimmed-down monarchy.

She said: “He didn’t know he was going to be unwell or that Catherine would too, he didn’t have that in mind.

“But I think it’s also very, very difficult to choose who he would have. He’s got his sister Princess Anne, who’s always there, works hard, incredibly hard, and only does slightly less engagements than him.”

She also added that Sophie and Edward had been doing well but said some of the suggestions to step in and help out were not straightforward choices.

Ms Levin added: “That’s been terrific as well because they just get on with things, Sophie and Edward.

“But then you come to whether he should have his other brothers and children and Prince Andrew’s daughters, and that’s very difficult because you don’t know whether they, who are quite friendly with Harry, would maybe leak something or whether it would be awkward because of the problems that Prince Andrew is still having.”

She said that this was why the Tindalls were her top choice to take on royal duties.

Ms Levin said: “My own view is that he could have Zara, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, because she and her husband Mike, who also comes from an ordinary background, but fits in beautifully with the Royal Family. He could do it very well.

“They’re very popular, they’re very nice, they’re jolly, they’re honourable, they’re loyal to all the royal family. So he could do that.”
