Mike Brewer claims there was ‘no feud’ with Edd China despite Wheeler Dealers split

Wheeler Dealers star Mike Brewer has told fans there was “no feud” or disagreement with Edd China despite the on-air duo parting ways.

Mike stressed “nothing happened” between the two co-hosts and explained Edd simply “left his job” on the show.

Mike and Edd presented the popular car restoration show together between 2003 and 2017 before parting ways.

The duo have continued to state publicly that there was no argument which led to their break-up at the end of season 13.

Speaking to the Road to Success podcast, Mike revealed Edd had simply decided to walk away to “do his own thing”.

He commented: “There was no feud, there was no split up, there was no disagreement, there was nothing. There’s a thousand YouTube videos ‘The Truth behind Wheeler Dealers’. Nothing happened.

“A guy left his job, that’s it. A guy was working one day and the next day he went ‘do you know what I’m going to do my own thing’.

“What he did is he left and then he slagged it off and that’s what happened but I didn’t respond to that. Nobody else responded to it.”

After leaving the Discovery show, Edd uploaded a YouTube video explaining his reasons behind walking away.

He put his departure down to disagreements with the show’s new American production team.

Edd revealed that at the first attempt at producing the show, producers found the show “too difficult” to make.

In particular, Edd was frustrated at a decision that the detailed fixes in the workshop would be reduced. Edd claimed he was “not comfortable” with the new direction and felt he was being asked to “cut corners”.

Ant Anstead took over from Edd for three seasons before also departing the show from series 17.

Former McLaren F1 mechanic Marc Priestley is the current co-host having taken over the role back in 2021.

However, despite parting ways seven years ago, Mike admitted he was still suffering due to Edd’s decision.

He added: “I love Edd, I love him to bits and I wish him all the best. He is an amazing guy. But there’s no feud. There’s no story behind it. There’s none of that bull***. None of that exists or happens.

“But still I will wake up tomorrow morning and my social media pages will be full of people calling me whatever it is, ‘bring back Edd. I don’t watch your show, bring back Edd’. And that will be seven years later, it was seven years ago.”
