Michelin star chef shares ‘perfect’ smoked salmon omelette recipe that takes three minutes

Eggs are such a versatile cooking ingredient that can be made in so many different ways – poached, boiled, fried or scrambled into a delicious omelette.

Omelettes are the perfect choice for a healthy yet easy breakfast. They can be flavoured with almost any dried herbs and spices and a range of fresh ingredients like vegetables and meat.

For a quick and easy way to make an omelette, Michelin star chef Raymond Blanc has shared his “perfect” recipe that he adds smoked salmon to.

There are only six steps to Raymond’s omelette recipe, all of which are incredibly simple.

The French chef claims that this recipe only takes three minutes using just four ingredients.

Ingredients

Three eggs

15g unsalted butter

40g smoked salmon, roughly chopped

Half teaspoon olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

Method

Start by gently beating the eggs together in a mixing bowl and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Next, heat the butter in an omelette pan until foaming. Pour in the beaten eggs and cook for a few seconds, until the bottom of the omelette is lightly set.

Push the set parts of the omelette into the uncooked centre of the omelette and cook again until the omelette has set further, then push the set parts into the centre of the omelette again.

Repeat the process as soon as the eggs have been set but the omelette is still soft in the centre.

Then it’s time to add the filling. Place half of the smoked salmon into the centre of the omelette and cook for about 30 seconds.

Remove the omelette from the heat and tilt the pan slightly to move the omelette to the edge of the pan.

Slide the omelette onto a serving plate while making sure to roll it up as you go.

Brush the omelette with melted butter, and add a few slices of smoked salmon along the top.
