Met Office reveals exactly where in the UK will get snow today – full list

The UK is set to be covered in a white blanket with severe weather warnings for snow slapped on vast areas across Britain. This week Brits have wrapped up warm as temperatures plummeted – with some areas predicted to have plunged to as low as -15C last night.

But don’t ditch the winter woollies just yet as the freezing conditions are set to continue with Met Office yellow warnings for snow and ice in place across the country today.

And the Met Office has also warned people to be on alert when out and about in potentially hazardous weather conditions.

It said: “A few centimetres of additional snow is possible in places, with ice a hazard on untreated surfaces, or where treatment has been washed off. Showers will turn increasingly to rain from the west during Friday morning, with temperatures slowly rising.

“Snowy, wintry weather can cause delays and make driving conditions dangerous. Keep yourself and others safe by planning your route, giving yourself extra time for your journey. Check for road closures or delays to public transport and amend plans if necessary.

“If driving, make sure you have some essentials in your car in the event of any delays (e.g., warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, ice scraper/de icer, a warning triangle, high visibility vest and an in-car phone charger).”

It also warned people to be extra cautious on slippery roads and paths adding: “Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.”

Here we list all of the weather warnings that are in place today, when they in place until and the regions and local authorities affected.
