Meghan Markle's unorthodox Christmas gift suggestions, from dog-leashes to ethical socks

Meghan Markle’s eclectic gift guide for the best Christmas presents has been revealed, which she posted on her former lifestyle blog The Tig.

Although some of the six potential items seem fairly appropriate, others are a little more unusual, such as the Found My Animal Adjustable Rope Leashes for the “socially-minded” pet owner.

The Duchess told her followers that buying from the pet good company would be “supporting local animal shelters” while kitting people out with “stylishly colorful ombré leash designs.”

Another charitable recommendation was the Conscious Step Crew Socks, ethically made socks that apparently “make you feel like every step you’re taking is a stride in the right direction”.

Each design aims to benefit a different cause, whether that be finding treatment for HIV or fighting hunger across the world.

Some of the more traditional gifts included jewellery, although Meghan recommended a particular brand to her fans known for their philanthropy.

She promoted The Neshama Project on her blog, a boutique jewellery line that donates a percentage of their profits to a charity that seeks to expand solar power, clean water, and agricultural technology to rural villages.

The items on their site are a little pricey, with its bestselling necklaces retailing at around £100 each, but as Meghan says: “You’re getting a quality product in addition to supporting a worthy cause.”

The Duchess also listed a curated box of candles ideal for the “California dreamer”, and another New York-based candle brand that, “aside from smelling heavenly and being hand-poured right in Brooklyn, NY, these chic candles are also looking to light up the world”.

She explained that the founder of the latter company had raised more than £80,000 ($100,000) for the development of solar power systems in Chad.

The Tig was Meghan’s self-described “passion project, which she launched in 2014 while still starring as Rachel Zane in the Netflix legal drama Suits.

However she shut the blog down in 2017, the same year she became engaged to Prince Harry and announced she would be joining the Royal Family.

On the site Meghan posted recipes, travel tips and pictures of her adventures over the years, with some speculating that now she is no longer a working royal she may be planning to bring it back.

According to TMZ, Meghan’s team has filed for new trademarks for The Tig through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, suggesting a revamp is in the works.
