Meghan Markle's 'odd' move as she continues plans for American Riviera Orchard

Meghan Markle has been called out for her “odd” way of starting her new lifestyle brand.

The Duchess of Sussex began her American Riviera Orchard brand this month and is now looking for a CEO to help make her dream brand. But one critic says she’s doing it in a weird order.

Royal commentator Richard Eden said it was “curious” as he talked about Meghan’s business plans.

He shared: “This is quite curious in many ways. The firm which she has announced on Instagram and is already gaining many followers for, American Riviera Orchard, a lifestyle cookery brand. Loads of trademarks and everything. She’s currently interviewing candidates to be the mastermind of her business.”

On Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, he added more: “This is quite odd because wouldn’t you usually appoint your mastermind, appoint the boss of your firm, decide your strategy, and then launch it?

“But she seems to be going the other way round, which might suggest that this chief executive might not be the boss as such. They’re sort of boss number two. It’s going to be interesting to see who is appointed.”

Meghan is expected to do more than just blog for her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. According to Page Six, the Duchess will also be selling a range of products from home accessories to food under this brand name.

A pal in the industry revealed to Page Six Style, “She’s been working on this for over a year and it’s all the things that are close to her heart – all the things she’s passionate about.”

Furthermore, a trademark application seen by the publication confirmed the multi-product line up which includes cutlery and various food items like jellies.

The paperwork also suggests Meghan plans on publishing cookbooks filled with her favourite recipes. Fans may remember Meghan had her own lifestyle blog, The Tig, where she often shared her favoured dishes and drinks.

Meghan Markle shut down The Tig in 2017 when she started dating Prince Harry. However, it seems her new venture will be similar but with a touch more elegance and sophistication.

On The Tig, Meghan used to post about fashion, flowers, food and more. She even teamed up with high-end magazines like Grazia to write guide-style articles for their readers.

These included tips on how to host the perfect Christmas, from setting the table and decorating, to what food and drinks to serve.
