Meghan Markle’s biggest professional nightmare appears to have come true as her brand has been hit by a delay of three months, according to reports.
The Duchess of Sussex – who revealed her brand name earlier this year – has been preparing to officially launch American Riviera Orchard for some time.
According to one royal expert, the issues surrounding Meghan’s trademark application mean that the Duchess’s brand will be delayed by another three months.
Speaking to GB News, royal expert Angela Levin revealed that the brand “keeps getting pushed back” due to trademark restrictions – something that has left Meghan feeling “very angry” as she’s unable to proceed with sales.
Stating that if the issue is not resolved within three months then the entire process will have to restart, Angela said: “She’s now asked for another three months on the trademark application deadline.”
Speaking about what the Duchess could do to resolve the issue, Angela suggested that Meghan could think about changing the name of her brand.
The brand’s delay stems from a protest lodged with the United States Patent and Trademark Office by Harry & David – who are the owners of the ‘Royal Riviera’ trademark.
She said: “All she had to do was to change the name. They don’t want the name because it’s too familiar to a name where she lives in Montecito.”
Discussing the mum-of-two, Ms Levin added that Meghan is “making life very, very complicated” by sticking to the original name.
Although Meghan has not officially launched her brand, she previously sent jars of jam – complete with the American Riveria Orchard’s logo on them – to close friends and influencers.
Alongside her brand, Meghan is gearing up to release a lifestyle show which will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship” and is part of Meghan and Harry’s multi-million-pound Netflix deal.
An official title and release date for Meghan’s series has not yet been revealed by the sstreaming service.
