Meghan Markle 'trying to build empire' as an influencer but expert highlights big problem

Meghan Markle is seemingly embarking on a path towards “building an empire” as an influencer after launching her range of jams, according to a royal expert.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield claimed this could be a departure from what she had originally planned to do after leaving the Royal Family with Prince Harry in 2020.

She told GB News: “I believe she’s trying to build an empire. I don’t know if that’s what she was going to do originally when she left the British Royal Family.”

Addressing the reception of the couple in the United States, Schofield noted that most people “have an issue with them.”

She questioned the necessity for Meghan and Harry to pursue avenues such as collaborating with Netflix to create content, seemingly covering gardening and culinary content, as well as reality television.

Schofield said: “Remember, they told us that she was going to be living a life of service. Polling-wise, this has been very difficult for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. People in the States have an issue with them.

“Did they have to go down this path, basically using Netflix to create content to kind of try to build this empire of gardening and what’s going on in the kitchen, but also giving Netflix ultimately what they want, which is that reality show element?”

The royal commentator claimed the Harry and Meghan documentary series was the couple’s “only commercial success” in this realm.

She described Meghan’s continued move into reality TV while simultaneously promoting her own products as a balance between exposure and entrepreneurship.

She said: “This is her dipping her toe still in reality TV but also having cameras in her face and being able to push her own products.”

Expressing a degree of disappointment in Meghan’s trajectory, Schofield suggested the Duchess might be disillusioned with the events of the past few years.

She reflected on the missed opportunity for Meghan and Prince Harry to play a more pivotal role within the Royal Family, particularly in light of the Princess Kate and King Charles’s cancer diagnoses.

Schofield concluded: “She’s probably really disappointed in what’s happened over the last few years. That’s a reality for her, and what’s so sad about looking at everything that’s happened within the British Royal Family since the beginning of 2024, is that – have Harry and Meghan truly been compassionate? Had they been patient?

“They could have saved the day in 2024…because they would have been able to step up to the plate and take on work for the Princess of Wales and King Charles. But unfortunately, instead of doing that, Meghan is selling jam.”
