She said: “Meghan’s performed body language here looks like a study in relaxed, carefree happiness. Her walk involves a bounce in her step and her smile is exaggerated enough to form a dimple.
“She touches the peak of her cap or places one hand near her ribs in a celebrity-style series of gestures and the phone in her hand is held high as though she’s constantly on call.”
Despite Meghan’s cheery demeanour, the 42-year-old also exhibited signs of stress, according to Ms James.
She added: “Her muscles do suggest suppressed tension though. The muscles around the jaw, chin and neck are very visible, hinting at some clenching that could be a sign she’s working hard to appear resilient here.”
It’s unclear where the Duchess was headed in her £80 New Balance trainers and exercise clothes, although she is known to be fond of yoga.
Despite being previously branded Meghan and Harry’s “mouthpiece”, Mr Scobie has denied the couple had anything to do with Endgame. The author also says he never named the two senior royals that appeared in the Dutch version of the book.
Sources close to Meghan and Harry have also said the couple had nothing to do with Mr Scobie’s book and the pair have so far remained silent on allegations made against the Firm.
The book has put Meghan and Harry firmly in the spotlight in a way not seen since Prince Harry released his tell-all memoir Spare earlier this year.
