Meghan Markle has opened up about her new hobby of beekeeping and making honey—one which she shares with her estranged father-in-law, King Charles, in her new show on Netflix. The Duchess of Sussex was shown making her own honey from bee hives kept in a rented £5 million mansion in Montecito, not far from her home with Prince Harry, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet.

In episode two of With Love, Meghan, the former actress – who is dressed in a beekeepers’ suit – revealed how she once did not like honey but has now come to “appreciate it so much” after keeping bees. The Duchess said: “It’s that reminder to do something that scares you a little bit,” she said as she harvested honey with a beekeeper. “I’m trying to stay in the comb of it because it’s beautiful to be this connected.

“I’ve got good vibes. Good vibes for good hives.”

King Charles is known for his love of bees and for keeping beehives at his Highgrove estate as well as his London residence, Clarence House.

Elsewhere in the episode, Hello Honey!, Meghan can be seen harvesting honey and saying, “The biggest thing is keeping a low tone—talk in our bee voice.”

With Love, Meghan launched on the streaming platform at 8am UK time – midnight on the West Coast of America – after being delayed from January due to the Los Angeles wildfires.

The eight episodes, which are each 33 minutes long, see Meghan inviting famous friends to “a beautiful California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips”, according to Netflix.

The show, which has the mood tags “relaxing”, “feel-good” and “lifestyle”, also features Meghan’s former Suits co-star, Abigail Spencer, among other celebrity guests.

It is seen as a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes, who signed a multimillion-pound deal with Netflix in 2020.
