Meghan Markle is ‘upbeat and relaxed’ despite Prince Harry’s mad dash to see King Charles

Meghan Markle was spotted with a huge beaming smile as she drove around in her Range Rover in California, while her husband, Prince Harry, made a quick dash back to the UK to visit his father, King Charles.

It was the first time the Duchess of Sussex had been spotted near her multi-million Montecito home since the King shared the news of his cancer diagnosis.

Pictures published by the MailOnline show Meghan sipping from a white coffee mug as she drives along Los Angeles roads, while she was wearing a baseball cap and dark, oversized sunglasses.

Analysing the photos, body language expert Judi James said: “In some form of subliminal mirroring, Meghan’s body language here seems to have picked up on those slightly more relaxed and upbeat-looking signals. It’s customary for celebs to look dour when they are papped driving.”

Speaking to the Mirror, she added: “Meghan’s baseball cap and mug plus her raised chin make her look relatively relaxed though. Her eyes are hidden behind her huge shades but even in the shadows of the car we seem to be able to see her upper teeth showing in a wide, beaming smile.”

During Prince Harry’s brief visit to the UK, he did not meet up with Prince William or Princess Kate, who is recovering from her pre-planned abdominal surgery.

Prince William had a hectic first day returning to royal duties after a short break where he helped assist his wife and three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis.

Attending the glitzy London’s Air Ambulance gala at the Raffles Hotel in central London, Prince William addressed the public’s support.

He said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days.”

The Princess of Wales was discharged from The London Clinic on January 29 after undergoing planned abdominal surgery this year – she spent 13 nights in the private hospital before returning to her home in Windsor.

The monarch’s bombshell cancer diagnosis came just 10 days after having been treated for an enlarged prostate in London, however, Palace aides confirmed it is not linked to the shock diagnosis and it is not prostate cancer.

Charles is said to have told all of his immediate family as early as possible, including his siblings and children.

Meanwhile Prince Harry is understood to have spent just 45 minutes visiting his father and Queen Camilla at Clarence House before being spotted back at Heathrow Airport to return home to California.

Ms James touched on “Harry’s anxiety” which “seemed visible en route to see his father in the UK”.

She additionally noted that “his grins and his more relaxed-looking body language after the visit suggested a palpable change of mood, suggesting possible relief and reassurance”.

Meghan Markle chose to remain in California with her two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet during Harry’s quick dash back to his former home.
