Meghan Markle defended over timing of her new brand as Duchess 'can do what she likes'

“Even now we are teased with soft-focus shots of Meghan in a black ball gown arranging roses; as clues go, there aren’t many beyond an opaque nine-post logo in hallmark classy creams on Instagram.

“Meghan and Harry promised last year that looking back, raking over the coals, criticising the Royal Family, was all in the past and this new online venture is proof they’ve kept their word.”

Whilst admitting that the timing is “awkward”, Dr Dunlop added: “But like it or not, under their exit terms from the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan are free agents, they can do what they like.

“Previously accused of ‘trashing their family’, it is hard to see how Sussex detractors can slam this new project without it looking like a serious case of sour grapes.”

Meghan also confirmed earlier this year that she had signed a contract with Lemonada Media and would be releasing a new podcast series. Although no further details have been released for the yet-untitled series, Meghan expressed her delight at returning to the podcasting world – almost two years on from the release of Archetypes.

Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior working royals at the start of 2020, before moving their young family to begin a new life in America. The couple went on to welcome their second child, Princess Lilibet, in June 2021.

The family now resides in California.
