Meghan Markle could be questioned under oath about the identity of the 'royal racists'

Meghan Markle may be quizzed by her half-sister Samantha Markle’s lawyers over the identity of the so-called ‘royal racists’ as part of a libel case.

In March 2021, Meghan and Prince Harry claimed in their interview with Oprah Winfrey that certain members of the Royal Family had conversations about how dark Prince Archie’s skin might be.

Although they never named those involved, when Omid Scobie released his book Endgame in November, the Dutch translation appeared to identify the royals.

Now as Samantha Markle is suing the Duchess of Sussex for allegedly defaming her in the Oprah Winfrey interview, her lawyer Peter Ticktin claimed that the racism allegations “need to be explored”.

He told The Sun on Sunday: “The royal racists issue needs to be explored. There’s reasons why she abandoned her family and turned on her family.

“This is a person who wants to be able to say horrible things and not really care if she destroyed the lives of people in her family. She doesn’t care if she destroys the monarchy.”

Mr Ticktin has said he will demand the Duke and Duchess submit to a deposition, a formal interview under oath which forms part of a lawsuit in the US.

Samantha Markle alleges that she was subject to “worldwide hatred, contempt, and ridicule” as a result of the Oprah Winfrey interview and Harry and Meghan’s 2022 Netflix documentary series.
