Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's one move 'wreaked havoc' on royal pal's wedding plans

He opined: “This is the sort of havoc that Harry and Meghan bring.

“To put this in context, the Duke of Westminster is really obsessed with privacy. None of us even knew that he had a girlfriend when he announced his engagement to his fiance. That’s how private he is.

Speaking on Palace Confidential, he added: “So to then have the arrangements for his wedding turn into a controversy and stuff because of them. Honestly, it’s horrific.”

The Duke of Westminster, 32, is known to be a “lifelong friend” of Prince Harry’s but it’s now thought that Prince William could be named as the best man.

The Times quoted a friend of both Harry and William’s as saying: “It’s incredibly sad it has come to this. Hugh is one of very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both.

“He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding.

“He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”

The wedding will be held at Chester Cathedral on June 7 – it’s thought King Charles and Queen Camilla will attend, although a spokesperson for Grosvenor said they were “not in a position to comment on the guest list”.
