Meghan Markle and Prince Harry warned 'no one takes them seriously' as key deadline nears

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s huge Netflix deal is said to be in danger, according to a royal expert, who warned “no one takes them seriously”.

Last year, the couple’s explosive six-part documentary was Netflix’s most-watched documentary series but the show came with a huge backlash for the couple.

Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were mocked by comedian Jo Koy at the Golden Globes who said the pair were “being paid millions by Netflix for doing nothing”.

Netflix reportedly warned the couple they need to create interesting content if they hope to receive the final £40 million of their contract.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said things don’t look good for the Sussexes.

He claimed that aside from their explosive doco-series, Harry and Meghan – which took aim at the Royal Family – nothing else they’ve made has been a big success.

Mr Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “If you simply trash your family, which is the only time it does seem to mean that you get megabucks, and do nothing else, then you must expect people not to take you seriously.”

He also noted that their Netflix deal ends in 2025, warning that if they don’t start producing hits, they could be in trouble.

He went on: “If they lost that, they really would be losers in every sense.”

Fitzwilliams said that people are still waiting to see if the royal pair can create something worth watching that didn’t involve the Royal Family.

Despite the buzz around their documentary, it didn’t make it into Netflix’s top 200 shows for the first half of the year.

Harry’s Heart of Invictus series didn’t catch on with audiences and Meghan’s animated show Pearl was cancelled by Netflix.
