Meghan Markle and Prince Harry branded 'self-absorbed and lazy' after bucking royal duties

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been branded “self-absorbed” and “lazy” over their decision to step away from royal duties, a writer and columnist has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to break with the Royal Family in 2020 before moving to the States.

They said the reason was because of media intrusion, and their frustration that Buckingham Palace stopped them developing their “SussexRoyal” brand.

But one critic claims they left for other reasons including being “lazy”.

Writing for the Daily Mail, columnist and writer A.N. Wilson opined: “The truth is, Harry and Meghan were too self-absorbed and ultimately too lazy to carry out the day-to-day slog of royal duty, which Kate, Princess Anne and the King and Queen have so faithfully done for years.”

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun that he believes the move was due to a lack of trust in the Sussexes.

“Several sources confirm that there were no such conversations and it is thought Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis from television, at the same time as the public,” The Times reported.

After Kate’s announcement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quickly sent a short, kind message of support.

It read: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
