Meghan and Harry compared to controversial royals over 'determination to make money'


Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dubbed the “modern-day” Duke and Duchess of Windsor, who caused controversy in 1936 when Edward VIII abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson.

The couple’s intention to marry and Wallis Simpson’s status as a divorcée caused a constitutional crisis that led to Edward’s abdication.

Royal author Alexander Larman, speaking to GB News, described Harry and Meghan as a modern-day version of the controversial royal couple.

He said that the Duke of Sussex’s “haplessness” is similar to that of the Duke of Windsor, while Meghan’s “steely determination” is similar to Simpson’s.

Larman said: “I think they are very, very lucky to find each other because they’ve made two people miserable rather than four.
