McDonald's to axe six items from menu in days including 'unreal' cult classic

The beloved fast-food giant McDonald’s typically refreshes its menu approximately every six weeks.

This time, it’s the Easter specials that are getting the boot to make room for seven exciting new offerings.

Items on the chopping block include the fan-favourite Creme Egg McFlurry, the unique Hot Cross Bun Pie, and the McCrispy Deluxe burger.

But it’s the departure of the Halloumi Fries that has fans particularly dismayed.

These delectable snacks consist of four halloumi cheese sticks enveloped in a crispy batter, accompanied by a sumptuous tomato dip.

For three consecutive years, these fries have graced the McDonald’s menu, garnering a cult following each time they reappear.

When they made their comeback last month, fans of the chain were overjoyed, and now many are clamouring for them to become a permanent fixture before they disappear again in the coming weeks.

One McDonald’s fan took to X to share a comical take on the possibility of their permanency, writing: “Please god, don’t let McDonald’s have Halloumi fries permanently. I’ll be like the size of a house.”

Other social media users begged: “Please make Halloumi Fries permanent.” While another said: “Keep the halloumi fries as a permanent item I love them so much.”

A third went as far as branding the fries “unreal” – loved for their crunchy exterior, gooey core and moreish taste.

The cheesy snacks aren’t going anywhere just yet so they’re still available in McDonald’s restaurants and for delivery at £2.79 for a pack or £7.39 for a share box.

A similar reaction was given to the news of the loss of the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry, which will join the Hot Cross Bun Pie, Hot Cross Bun Latte, Galaxy Truffle Bunny McFlurry, McCrispy Deluxe and of course, Halloumi Fries in being axed from menus.

Those craving any items off the Easter menu will find them on UK menus until Tuesday, April 16.

But it’s not all bad news and seven tasty new items will land in place of the spring additions – one of which is a delicious new cheesy snack.
