They’re gonna need more than an umbrella.

A Morton Salt mine thousands of feet below Lake Eerie was forced to shut down after it suddenly sprang a massive leak, officials said.

A mine for the company — known for its iconic yellow “girl with umbrella” mascot — was inexplicably flooded in Painesville, Ohio, last week, according to FOX 8.

The rush of water forced the underground site to close, and has disrupted road salt deliveries as the nation prepares for winter, according to cleveland.com.

At least 77  mine workers were laid off Wednesday, according to the station.

Federal mine inspectors are are now probing the cause of the “water intrusion,” officials said.

It’s unclear if the  mine will reopen again.

Salt deliveries scheduled to begin Monday won’t arrive due to the shutdown last week triggered by a water intrusion in the underground site in Painesville Township, cleveland.com reported.

The salt mine, which has been active since 1992, sits roughly 2,000 feet under Lake Erie, separated from the lake by rock and sediment.

Nobody was injured during the flooding event, officials have said.
