Martha Stewart shares five unique flowers to surprise your loved ones for Valentine's Day

Garden roses

The most signature flower of Valentine’s Day is the rose, which is known for its stunning arrangement and strong fragrance. The sensual flower also comes in a variety of colors. While appearing soft and delicate, if taken care of properly, the gorgeous garden rose can have a long life, Martha Stewart says.

Orchids

This flower is the perfect fit for lovers who appreciate the finer things in life. Orchids are billed as a sleek and elegant flower that is suitable for a minimalist home. You can get it in all white or two-toned with accents of soft pink or fuchsia.

Anemones

These flowers come in a wide range of high-contrast and dramatic colors, which is why Martha says they are perfect for traditionalists and avant-garde lovers alike. It is a true winter flower, too, making them seasonal.

Hellebores

Martha says this alternative flower is “very underrated.” Similar to roses, it has a sweet scent and comes in a variety of colors, making for the perfect accent flower. Similar to anemones, it is a winter flower and is alternatively called a Lenten flower because it blooms between January and March on the East Coast.

Dried flowers

Not only is this “non traditional take” on Valentine’s Day flowers perfect for your bohemian lovers, it’s also a gift that will last forever, which Martha says can represent of undying love and unfading feelings.
