A Tesla Cybertruck owner was left shocked when his vehicle was defaced with swastikas amid escalating protests against Elon Musk.
The owner, who prefers to remain unnamed, had taken his Cybertruck to a Tesla service centre in Lynwood, Washington for routine repairs.
To his dismay, he discovered that his vehicle, along with five others, had been targeted by vandals.
The backlash has intensified since Elon Musk took the helm of the Department of Government Efficiency, with Tesla showrooms becoming hotspots for demonstrations across the US.
The man, who goes by RoRo, visited the dealership to assess the damage and expressed his shock, though he remains a staunch supporter of Tesla, praising the company’s exceptional customer service in rectifying the situation.
RoRo commented: “I always say there is a right and a wrong side of history – the people doing this are definitely on the wrong side of history.”
He continued, highlighting the personal impact of the vandalism: “I have only purchased the vehicle. You are not hurting Elon, he already has my money – you are hurting me.
“I worked my bones off to get a Cyber truck. It is so sad that people are doing this.”
He also pointed out the irony of the situation, saying: “The left was so on board with electric cars and now Elon is unearthing Government corruption they are against them.”
This isn’t RoRo’s first Tesla; he’s been a loyal customer since 2014, with the Cybertruck being his fourth Tesla model.
In early March, Tesla reached out for a routine inspection of his vehicle, which was then vandalised on March 10.
He recounted: “I have a very early built Cybertruck, they called me and said they wanted to inspect the A frame pillar on my car as it might not have been installed properly.
“They looked at it, said it needed replacing and asked if I could pick the car up on Monday.
“I said yes, and low and behold on Sunday night my car was damaged.”
Local reports indicate that Tesla dealerships in Lynnwood have seen various protests, with similar incidents also occurring in Bellevue, Fife, Tacoma, Renton, South Lake Union, and University Village.
The individual maintained his support for Tesla, stating: “I am still a Tesla enthusiast, if anything it has probably made be a bigger one,” and “It hasn’t deterred me at all, I am looking into purchasing another Cybertruck soon.”
The FBI released a statement to the press, asserting: “The FBI is working with our law enforcement partners to investigate a number of incidents in which Tesla charging stations and dealerships were damaged.
“Incidents have occurred in several states and the FBI is coordinating with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to gather information.”
They also urged the public to remain vigilant, saying: “We would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious or have information about potential threats to report it to local law enforcement immediately.”
In a recent announcement, US Attorney General Pamela Bondi described the attacks on Tesla as “nothing short of domestic terrorism.”
She declared: “The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism. The Department of Justice has already charged several perpetrators with that in mind, including in cases that involve charges with five-year mandatory minimum sentences.
“We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”
